Monsters shutout again; Bulldogs sweep weekend set

A day game in Cleveland against the Bulldogs gave a similar result to the game on Friday night; a shutout loss for Lake Erie. The Bulldogs would score all three goals in the second period, including goals on back-to-back shots. Trevor Cann would be credited with a 3-0 loss to Hamilton.

Bulldogs blow out Monsters in front of 9,000+

The Hamilton Bulldogs came to Cleveland for game one of a two game set and took down the Monsters with a 4-0 win. The Monsters dissapointed over 9,000 fans at the game on a big promotional night that the Monsters offer. TheĀ  Monsters look for revenge on the 28th.

Marlies blow past Monsters in early game

The Marlies hosted the Monsters for an early start and took down Lake Erie again. The final score; 4-1. The Monsters would get one goal in the third, however a four goal deficit is hard to make up in the final period. The Monsters have not beaten the Marlies this season.

Marlies slip past Monsters in Shootout

November 28, 2009

The Monsters took on the Marlies again this time in Toronto. The Monsters had a 2-0 lead after two periods after Durno and Willsie scored during those twenty minutes. However, the Marlies would score twice early in the third period to tie the game. Derek Peltier, in overtime, would be denied a goal on a breakaway. Therefore, with no goals in overtime, the game went to a shootout. In the shootout, the Marlies scored on their first two shots and the Monsters were held off the board. The shootout ended with the Marlies winning the game 3-2.

Monsters blown out again

The Toronto Marlies came to Cleveland for the second time this season and controlled the game right from the start. They would score three times in the first to lead 3-0 after one. In the second, the Monsters would get a goal as Marty Sertich would light the lamp early. The Marlies, however, would answer and lead 4-1 after two. In the third, the Marlies would score three more to cap off a 7-1 victory. The Monsters play two straight in Toronto after this game.

Monsters get revenge; 3-1 Win

The Monsters finished off their series against Houston with a 3-1 at The Q on Saturday afternoon. The Monsters scored two goals in the second period to take the lead before giving one back to cut it to 2-1. Brian Fahey then added the empty net goal late in the third to secure a 3-1 win for the Monsters and goaltender Tyler Weiman. The Monsters will host Toronto on Friday at 7:30 pm on Ski Hat giveaway night and Dollar Dog Night!

Monsters drown in lake; Aeros fly away with victory

The Houston Aeros came into Cleveland for a 2 game set with the Monsters. Game 1 was a disaster. The Monsters came out and gave up early first period goal to go down 1-0. In the second, the Monsters showed signs of life having several scoring opportunites early. The Aeros would then add a montage of goals to lead 5-0 at the second intermission. In the third, the Aeros would score one last time to seal off a 6-0 victoy. Tyler Weiman allowed 4 goals in under 2 periods while Trevor Cann allowed 2 goals in under 2 periods.

Griffins slip past Monsters

The Monsters looked for revenge against the Grand Rapids team that beat them on Sunday 8-6 in Cleveland. The Monsters would drop this decision as well 2-1 in a shootout. The Griffins would score in the first and the Monsters would score in the third to take care of the scoring in regulation time. In the shootout the Griffins scored in the fifth round and the Monsters were denied on each of their shots. Thanks to this loss, the losing streak is at 4.

Monster go 5/6 on Powerplay; Still lose by 2

The Monsters went 5/6 on the powerplay and scored 6 goals in the game, too bad they still lost. The Monsters fell 8-6 to Grand Rapids in the first meeting of the season. The Monsters struck early with two straight powerplay goals to light the lamp early. In the second the Griffins scored 4 in a row to make it 4-2. The Monsters would later on score 3 in a row to take a 5-4 lead. The Griffins, however, did not give up and fought to tie the game with under one minute to go in the second period. In the third, Durno gave the Monsters the lead nearly midway through. Towards the end of the period Grand Rapids would tie the score, take the lead, and cap it off with an empty net goal to win 8-6. Trevor Cann takes the loss in net.

Monsters lose by one; should of been by more

November 9, 2009

The Monsters lost to the Marlies 3-2 on Friday. The Monsters would go 0/7 on the powerplay, including 0/2 on the 2-man advantage. The Monsters, however, would score first and lead 1-0. The Marlies would then battle back to take a 2-1 lead after one goal was waved off due to goaltender interference. The Marlies would score on an empty net with 1:01 remaining, with the Monsters down 2-1. The Monsters would then pick up that second goal which would have tied it with 14.5 seconds to go. The final score: 3-2.
